Description
BIDR Auctions is proud to offer this 1964 Shelby CSX9000 Daytona Coupe showing just 3,300 mi on the odometer at the time of cataloging. Finished in Guardsman Blue over a Black leather and Alcantara cabin, this continuation coupe brings the legendary ‘60s FIA racer back to life.
After dominating tight American road courses in the early 1960s with the Cobra roadster, Carroll Shelby set his sights on the high-speed straightaways of European circuits. With the help of Peter Brock and Ken Miles, the Daytona Coupe was created to go up against the likes of Ferrari and Aston Martin.
The effort culminated in 1965 when the Shelby Daytona Coupe won the GT III class of the FIA World Sportscar Championship, becoming the only American manufacturer to do so. Just six of these legendary race cars, with those incredibly low-slung lines and signature Kamm tail, were built.
Fortunately, Shelby American has brought the Daytona Coupe back in the form of the CSX9000 Continuation Series. Once again tapping the talents of Peter Brock and the corporate design archives, these modern tributes to the famed track star are nothing short of spectacular. Today’s example is chassis CSX9170 and it’s a stunner.
